Our Story

Founded in 1977 in Taipei City, Ten Yen Tea House has carried on the tea culture for over 40 years. After founder, Mr. Kung Peilin passed down the business to his son, Mr. Kung Jrhao (Hal) in 1987, Hal continues the family passion in creating best tastes of tea.

With the best topography (high altitude) and climate (a fair amount of humidity) for growing tea plants, Nantou county, main origin of Taiwan finest tea, is responsible for the largest tea production in Taiwan. Dong Ding Oolong is one of the most famous tea originated from Nantou, along with High-mountain Oolong tea, Lishan tea, and Dayuling Tea. Hal’s wife, Mrs. Mrs. Hsieh Yuehpi (Amy), owns one of the largest tea factory in Nantou, dedicates her life in farming high quality tea plants, which is the main origin of the tea at Ten Yen Tea House. One of specialty of Ten Yen Tea House is Hal’s exclusive tea roasting technique. With decades of experience, Hal is exceptional at creating custom unique tastes for each customer.
